Color of the waves

After finding the right positioning for our waves, we then spray painted them blue. We wanted to bring the aspect and representation of waves by spray painting the waves in a gradient texture. With that, it gives the waves dimension and an illusion of movement.

Waves coming together

Using recyclable styrofoam we have found in the old mens bathroom storage, we positioned them accordingly by height, and angle to design the waves.

Sea of Change Drawing concepts

1/3 design concept of our parklet. This drawing explains in detail the materials we are using and how we are incorporating them into the design.

Sea of Change Drawing concepts

2/3 drawing concept of our parklet. The above image explains how we are constructing the "Sea of Change." The water bottles positioned at different levels will portray an abstraction of waves.

Gathering Ideas from the scrap bin of SFSU

Inspirations

What inspired me with this particular area is that it is relaxing, calm, and peaceful. I wanted to design a parklet where people can relax and get away from all of society. Bringing in the elements of nature, water, and rocks into the parklet will give a very positive environment.

Recology pick up

To recreate the look of the "sea" for our installation we needed approximately 1000 plastic bottles. The kind people of Recology, the local recycle place here in San Francisco, donated this truck load.

What inspired me for this setting is to try and recreate a festive environment in a school setting.  The party atmosphere brings in people who share the same positive attitude about their school and therefore builds community throughout the city as well.

Inspiration

The significance of this is to recreate the feeling of our youth by going to a Putt-Putt course. The size of the obstacles relative to the user give them a feeling of having the power to conquer the obstacles that are present in front of them and in their daily life. One design for the course would be to recreate the feeling of being on a city street, the barriers would be colored same as city streets (yellow and white) plus the layout of the course would have an actual car tire which would be cut along one of the quadrants, allowing for the golf ball to loop inside the perimeter of the tire.

Making a call out for some supplies!

Part of our concept is to create a "sea" of water bottles flowing throughout our installation which is going to require a significant amount of empty plastic bottles.
